Henrik Kairies

Born 1966 in Braunschweig, lives Würzburg and Berlin.
As a child, he took lessons in piano and trumpet. Since the 1980s he has focused on electronic music. He studied music pedagogy at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin.
He has been a member of the Maulwerker since 1991.

In addition Kairies is active on a number of stages as a musician and composer.
He has written music for theater including 100 Fragen an Heiner Müller, 4 ½ Männer und ich (Berlin), Spiel (Leipzig), Endspiel (Stuttgart), Die Hermannschlacht, Die Hinterhältigkeit der Windmaschinen (Osnabrück), Peer Gynt, König Ödipus, Die Perser, Antigone (Mainz).

He was a frequent guest in Systemkritik-Materialausgabe, the Leipzig series about the border zone between notated and improvised music.

Since 2003 he has been the pianist and keyboarder with Roberto Guerra in the Italo-pop/chanson evening Strappare una Lacrima and, since 2010, in the recital program One Night Stand.
